Edinburgh's Fountain Brewery plans lodged

Plans for a multi-million pound redevelopment of the former Fountain Brewery in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, have been submitted for consideration. Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) has lodged plans with the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) for a mixed-use scheme, which is to include a 250-bedroom hotel, restaurants and cafés. A groundbreaking ceremony has been held to mark the start of construction work on the new £19.1m ArcelorMittal Orbit tourist attraction in London. A historic theatre in Aberdeen is to benefit from repairs and the reinstatement of architectural features to its exterior after being awarded funding for the work. A report compiled by consulting engineers Posford DATRYS has revealed that it will cost £5.5m to renovate Colwyn Bay's historic pier.
