Six Senses is opening a spa in the ski-resort destination of Courchevel, France this December, catering to local residents, chalet owners, holidaymakers and other skiing enthusiasts. Located in the heart of Courchevel 1850, the spa is a part of Six Senses Residences Courchevel which houses 53 penthouses and apartments. German design duo transform Swiss ski lift gondolas into lightweight mobile saunas

German designers Toni Egger and Felix Tarantik are creating mobile saunas inside the aluminium shells of Swiss ski lift gondolas. The four-person Saunagondel can withstand extreme weather conditions and, with a footprint of two by two metres, is small and lightweight enough to transport from place to place. British architecture studio Foster + Partners have been commissioned to restore a historic pavilion in Kulm Park, Switzerland so that it can be used at next year’s Ski World Championships. The two-storey Ice Pavilion, which is owned by ski and spa getaway Kulm Hotel St. Moritz, was constructed in 1905 in a traditional Swiss Art Nouveau style. W Hotels Worldwide has today (20 January) announced it will open its first alpine retreat in North America: a chalet and cocktail bar in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.
