Luxembourg skatepark opens in shadow of UNESCO-listed fortress

Contractors hired to build multi-level indoor skatepark

The main contractor has been appointed for the construction of Urban Sports Park (USP) – a multi-level indoor skating complex in Folkestone, UK designed by Guy Holloway Architects. World's first multi-level skatepark gets the green light

Guy Holloway Architects look set to develop the world’s first multi-storey skatepark in the British port town of Folkestone after their design received planning approval from the district council. Following a series of public consultations in Q1 2015, detailed proposals were developed by the architects and skatepark design consultancy Maverick for an urban sports facility. That vision has now been unanimously approved by planning committee members at Shepway District Council.

The UK’s first glow-in-the-dark skateboard park has opened in Liverpool ahead of the city’s 2016 biennial arts festival. The permanent sculpture, which is named Evertro, opened to the public on 6 October. It has been designed by South Korean artist Koo Jeong A in association with developer Wheelscape Skateparks. East London's 'Rom' becomes Europe’s first listed skatepark

The ‘Rom’ in Hornchurch, East London, has been given Grade II listed status by English Heritage and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Opened in 1978, the Rom, named after a nearby river, is one of the finest surviving examples of early skatepark designs in the UK. The decision to protect the park follows the publication of a new book by sports historian Simon Inglis called Played in London
