Roland Garros gets new greenhouse-flanked tennis court in controversial development

French design practice Marc Mimram have completed a new tennis court for the Stade Roland Garros in Paris. The 5,000-seat Court Simonne-Mathieu is flanked by four greenhouses to camouflage its bulk and ensure it blends in to the site, which is within the 120-year-old Serres d'Auteuil botanical gardens, adjacent to the main Roland Garros complex. A brightly lit, rainbow-coloured greenhouse has popped up in downtown Tokyo, Japan, inviting guests to step inside and interact with the sights and sounds created by its vegetable inhabitants. Japanese creative studio Party, which is headed up by Naoko Ito, created the Digital Vegetables installation to run over a three-week period until 5 November. Australian eco-restaurant Greenhouse to enter UK

Australian designer Joost Bakker will launch his first overseas Greenhouse restaurant in London, UK next year. The sustainable restaurant concept first opened in Perth in 2009 and has gathered momentum following a pop-up restaurant that operated for six weeks at Sydney's harbourside in March 2011. As well as the UK launch, permanent sites are currently being planned for Sydney and Melbourne. The London restaurant is scheduled to open by mid-2012.
