MVRDV reveal vision for Taiwanese 'Times Square'

Dutch architecture practice MVRDV have unveiled renderings of an eye-catching twin tower development planned for central Taipei. Dubbed a "Times Square for Taiwan" the firm's Twin Towers, which will occupy defunct or underused areas around Taipei's main station, will feature two cinemas and hotels, as well as a series of retail outlets and offices. Silver sphere of OMA’s Taipei Performing Arts Center revealed for first time

A giant aluminium sphere has been unmasked on the streets of Taipei following the removal of the scaffolding at OMA’s Performing Arts Center for the city. The exteriors of two of the centre’s theatres – the Proscenium Playhouse and Multiform Theatre – can now be seen clearly for the first time. Both venues will seat 800 spectators. Kris Yao | Artech has been selected to design the New Taipei City Museum of Art after winning an architectural contest with its “Contemporary Museum of Art among the Reeds” design. The NT$2.17bn (US$68.9m, €60.6m, £44.4m), 44,000sq m (473,600sq ft) development, located in New Taipei, Taiwan, is being funded by local government. The Mandarin Oriental Group will soon raise the curtain on The Spa at Mandarin Oriental in Taipei, China – the upcoming 303-bedroom hotel owned by Kai Tai Fung International Company Limited.
