Bjarke Ingels tipped for Greenland waterfront stadium project

The studio of Danish architect Bjarke Ingels have agreed to design a new indoor football stadium for Greenland, according to media reports in the island territory. Kalaallit Nunaata Radioa (KNR) have reported that BIG will create “a new gathering point” for the capital city Nuuk by creating a modern stadium on a disused plot of land, with several large windows providing views of the harbour, surrounding fjords and the bay.

Danish architectural firm Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter have unveiled designs for an arctic visitor attraction designed to draw visitors to Greenland. The proposed Icefjord Centre in Ilulissat – a town in the Qaasuitsup municipality in western Greenland – will help develop Greenland’s tourism and will demonstrate the history and culture of the ice fjord, as well as highlighting the dramatic melting of the UNESCO-protected Greenland ice sheet. Construction is now complete on the Jiangxi Nanchang Greenland Zifeng Tower, an eco-themed mixed-use structure in the Gaoxin District of Nanchang, China. Chinese state-owned property firm Greenland Holding Group has bought the Ram Brewery site in Wandsworth, West London - home of Britain’s oldest brewery - as part of a £600m development. A team comprising Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), TNT Nuuk, Ramboll Nuuk and Arkitekti has been chosen to design a new national gallery in Greenland. BIG's concept for the 3,000sq m (32,292sq ft) Greenland National Gallery of Art was selected ahead of five rival entries, following a design competition.
