US space agency NASA is preparing to explore the feasibility of expandable habitats, or inflatable ‘space houses’, in a new mission that launches this Friday (8 April). An Australian architectural duo have won a competition to design the Casablanca Bombing Rooms – a cultural space promoting peace on the site of a devastating terrorist attack. Rachel Hurst and William Song Yuan’s design features a large black tower, which represents a beacon of learning, acceptance, knowledge and growth towards peace. The Soaring Eagle Inn & Conference Centre in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, US is to be demolished and a new hotel and waterpark built in its place.
