SHA Wellness founder launches global real estate development firm, AB Living Group
– Alejandro Bataller
Alfredo Bataller, founder of established Spanish destination spa Sha Wellness Clinic (SHA), has launched a real estate development firm called AB Living Group (AB Living).
AB Living is the totality of AB Wellness (responsible for the SHA brand), AB Hospitality and AB Properties.
The new firm’s first project is The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort in Mexico which is slated to open in 2025.
While the company has only recently launched, the Batallers have invested in recent years in different locations in search of striking environments with large areas of surrounding nature, warm climates and easy accessibility that will allow AB Living to develop properties that touch on each of AB’s entities – wellness, hospitality and real estate.
"Our partnership and selection of the St. Regis brand were due to our shared vision of luxury hospitality, standards of service, tradition and excellence,” said Alejandro Bataller, VP of AB Living.
“St. Regis is also a leader in the luxury branded residences segment, a component that plays a major role in this project and something we really wanted to bring to Costa Mujeres as the area becomes more popular among international buyers and tourists."
AB Living’s debut project
Designed by architects Sordo Madaleno Studio, The St. Regis Costa Mujeres will feature a high-end spa as well as 160 rooms, 82 residences, several restaurants, a fitness room, a pier, Kids Club, Beach Club, among other exclusive amenities reserved for residence owners.
"The signing of The St. Regis Costa Mujeres represents a pivotal moment for the brand as it continues its dynamic resort growth in the world's most glamorous leisure destinations," said George Fleck, VP and global brand leader, St. Regis.
"We’re thrilled to expand St. Regis' presence in Mexico and look forward to bringing the brand's celebrated traditions to this vibrant and sought-after destination."
Importantly, guests and residents will have access to SHA Wellness Mexico – the brand's first Latin American property, slated to open in 2023.
AB Living says that while these will be two separate concepts and operations, there will be synergies between its two Mexican properties.
With 101 suites and 37 residences, SHA Mexico will offer 100 treatment rooms for medical consultations and treatments.
AB Living is also set to expand into the Middle East with SHA Emirates, another five-star wellness clinic set to open in 2024. The destination will be complete with 110 treatment rooms, 120 suites and 150 residences.
