Lefay launches TCM-inspired preventative health treatments to boost guests' immune strength
– Dr Carlo Barbieri
Luxury eco-spa resort, Lefay Resort & Spa Lago Di Garda, in Italy, has reopened with the introduction of a series of TCM-inspired experiences to increase and strengthen guests’ immune systems.
Called Nourishing Life Prevention, the new treatment programme is based on the principles of TCM and is integrated with the holistic wellness offered at Lefay.
Dr Carlo Barbieri, president of the Lefay SPA Method Scientific Committee explained: “The Nourishing Life Prevention recommends treatments, activities and nutrition for Lefay guests to promote a healthy grounding of mind and body, helping to defend against viral infections with a more effective immune system and maintaining a healthy condition to always feel at their best.”
The scheme involves a range of wellness experiences such as spa treatments, psychological consultations and outdoor activities with TCM specialists.
The series’ introduction has seen Lefay roll out a new “Nutrire La Vita” massage consisting of 10 minutes of moxibustion focusing on the spleen and pancreas, which provide the body with the ‘fuel’ for optimal functionality.
This stimulation of specific energy points that contribute to the strengthening of the immune system is followed by 30 minutes of massage to completely rebalance the body. The massage has a starting cost of €90 (£81, US$102).
Lefay is also offering Psychosomatic and Psychotherapeutic Consultations in order to address the stress of recent months in lockdown to help enable guests to better manage the challenges we now face.
The Psychosomatic Consultation helps people to logically look at what they’re going through and the Psychotherapeutic Consultation will allow guests to share personal physical and psychological conditions that have manifested themselves through dreams, personality traits and biographical episodes.
The consultations can be combined with a calming, rebalancing outdoor activity and stress-relieving massages to reduce the physical and mental symptoms related to anxiety and restlessness. Prices start from €100 (£90, US$114) for a 50- minute consultation.
As part of the new scheme, Lefay has also devised ‘The White Tiger Path’ – an outdoor activity routine consisting of rebalancing activities with therapists who specialise in different holistic TCM disciplines, including Zen meditation, Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Perception Walking.
With a starting price of €329 (£288, US$364), the path combines movement and meditation activities including yoga and stress-relieving breathing sessions, a guided walk through the Energy Therapeutic Garden and a full body massage working on energy points.
Guests are also being encouraged to follow the Lefay SPA menu designed to detoxify and put minimal strain on the digestive system. The diet is claimed to nourish intestinal microbiota, which is essential to strengthening overall immunity.
