Vinotherapy and mud rituals inspire Four Seasons Napa Valley spa programming

by Megan Whitby | 13 Jan 2022

The new spa at the recently-opened Four Seasons Napa Valley in Calistoga, California, has been inspired by the resort’s onsite vineyard and local Native American healing wisdom.

The 13,050sq ft Spa Talisa is inspired by a Native American term for ‘beautiful water’ and was chosen as a homage to Calistoga’s 150-year history as a holistic spa and wellness destination.

Spa treatments and services incorporate grape seeds and olive oil produced on-property as well as products from Italian spa and skincare brand Seed to Skin and Napa-based boutique skincare brand Liv + Grace Skincare.

The spa’s signature treatment – Brave Spirit Ritual – showcases the area’s mineral-rich mud during a detoxifying thermal mud ritual to nourish the skin.

To prepare guests for the application, therapists begin with a grounding foot soak and an aromatherapy aura cleansing ritual using a sage-infused flower spritz and feather wisp.

This is followed by an exfoliating scrub enriched with marine algae and the application of detoxifying thermal mud and nourishing body balm from Seed to Skin.

The treatment is then completed with a restorative body and craniosacral massage to release tension and soothe guests from top to toe.

The Brave Spirit Ritual lasts 100 minutes and costs US$500 (€434, £372) per person.
