Mall of America unveils new Unicoaster flat ride

The first park model of Chance Morgan's new Unicoaster flat ride has been unveiled at Nickelodeon Universe inside the Mall of America (MOA) at Bloomington, Minnesota, US.
The new interactive attraction - inspired by a concept from SkyCoaster inventor Bill Kitchen - features eight sweeps radiating from a central column. At the end of each sweep is a two-seat gondola with over-the-shoulder restraints. Sixteen riders per cycle use a lever between the seat pairs to control the forward/backward flipping motion of the individual gondolas as they travel around an undulating track at 35mph. Ride time is two minutes per cycle. The 18ft Unicoaster has been named 'BrainSurge' at MOA, which is based on the Nick television network's game show of the same name. In the centre of the machine is a giant model of a brain that glows and flashes, sending 'signals' to the riders.
When the new ride opened, 16 of America's brightest children - all members of MENSA - were the first to try it out. Nickelodeon Universe is an indoor theme park in the centre of the mall, formerly known as Knott's Camp Snoopy, Camp Snoopy, and The Park at MOA. It's the largest indoor theme park in the US, with its highest ground level 15ft above the lowest.
