Tracy Lee creates spa concept for upcoming Auberge Chileno Bay

by Jane Kitchen | 13 Sep 2016

Tracy Lee of consultancy TLee Spas is working on plans for a destination spa at the upcoming Auberge Chileno Bay Resort & Residences in Los Cabos, Mexico, set to open in December 2016.

The resort is set in the 1,200-acre community of Chileno Bay, and offers a “modern active and outgoing spirit in its design and lifestyle,” the company said.

The signature spa will include ten treatment rooms, a couples retreat room, a purification garden, a cool plunge pool, sauna and reflexology pool. An expansive Specialty Suite will feature an outdoor garden with its own plunge pool, private bathroom and steam shower. All treatment rooms will feature private outdoor shower gardens.

Lee is also working on a 10,000sq ft indoor-outdoor spa at the upcoming Auberge in Fort Lauderdale.

The 60-bedroom resort will also include a centrepiece, three-tiered, infinity pool, as well as 32 two-, three- and four-bedroom villas.

A waterfront “H2O Cave,” adjacent to the Chileno Beach, will host watersports, including snorkeling, diving and paddleboarding, and an Activity Center houses the fitness centre, movement studio, Pescaditos Kids Club, private theater and the Chileno Lounge.

Designed by San Francisco-based Glazier Le Architects, with interiors from BAMO, the resort embraces the natural environment and features a contemporary indoor-outdoor aesthetic. A colour palette of earth, plant and sea tones includes bright, seal-coloured tiles, custom fabrics, natural materials and original artwork to create a design-meets-ocean environment.

Interior design finishes in the rooms include marble flooring, artisan plaster walls, and intricately designed handmade colourful tiles.

A signature restaurant is designed by Los Angeles-based Gulla Jonsdottir Architecture + Design, and will offer local, freshly caught seafood as well as a raw bar and interactive ceviche bar.
