Valamar Riviera, a Croatian tourism company and hotel operator, will open its Pical Resort with Croatia’s first ESPA spa in March 2026. Valamar, which operates 36 hotels and resorts, plus 15 camping properties, has invested €200 million (US$221.3 million, £169.7 million) in the 514-key property in Poreč, Istria, representing the company’s largest investment to date. Work is underway on a £19.7 million waterfront leisure centre in Newport, which will be one of the UK's first net zero leisure centres. Third Space has unveiled further details of its 14th location, The Whiteley, which opens near Hyde Park in London on 12 December. Minor Hotels has signed an agreement with Egyptian hospitality group Sunrise Resorts and Cruises to form a new joint venture company that will open up to 50 hotels over the next decade. Aman Resorts is developing its first African safari resort and branded residences at Aman Karingani, a retreat within the 150,000-hectare Karingani Game Reserve in southern Mozambique. The Swiss health and wellbeing destination, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, has launched a new facility staffed by medical professionals called the Tamina Health Centre. The four-floor facility is named after the Tamina Gorge, the source of the resort’s healing waters. Construction management company Sir Robert McAlpine has been appointed to lead the development of the Therme Manchester project in the UK, which is slated to open at TraffordCity in late 2028. Therme Horizon, the holding company valued for Therme Group and its private equity partner CVC Capital, will fund the development. Perth and Kinross Council has officially opened the £36 million Blairgowrie Recreation Centre – Scotland’s first Passivhaus leisure development. Designed by architects Holmes Miller, which specialises in carbon neutral development, the leisure centre sets a new benchmark for sustainable sports and leisure buildings in Scotland. Siari, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is expected to open in the private club community of Nauka on Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit later this year with its own Ritz-Carlton Spa.
