Rosewood’s second Austrian Asaya spa to open in restored 15th-century castle

– Sonia Cheng
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will unveil a brand new Asaya wellness spa in 2024 at a lakeside castle in the Austrian countryside.
The spa will open at the luxury hotel and spa operator’s upcoming hotel Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, complete with eight treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a fitness centre.
Asaya is Rosewood’s signature wellness concept focused on the intersections between physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The Asaya brand was originally launched at Rosewood Phuket, Asaya and is founded on five pillars – Emotional Balance, Fitness and Nutrition, Physical Therapies, Skin Health and Community.
The hotel – marking Rosewood’s second Austrian outpost – will come to fruition following a sensitive restoration of the historic Hotel Schloss Fuschl. First used as a hotel in 1954, the five-star destination was initially constructed as a castle to serve as a country escape for Austrian royalty, with its original structure dating back to 1450.
Situated on the banks of Lake Fuschl, the property is surrounded by mountains and forests and is now undergoing a comprehensive renovation.
Rosewood is updating the property’s structure and grounds to feature 98 guestrooms, including 46 suites and six chalets, as well as multiple restaurants and lounges.
The operator was appointed to manage the property by Arabella Hospitality – a subsidiary of Schörghuber Corporate Group.
This is the second partnership between Arabella Hospitality and Rosewood, with the brands currently working together to realise Rosewood Munich (opening late 2023).
“We’re pleased to continue our growth in Austria, with the addition of this beautiful and tranquil lakeside property,” says Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood.
“Complementing Rosewood Vienna, this property will expand our presence in this storied destination with a unique resort offering.”
Arabella Hospitality and Rosewood say they’re committed to protecting Rosewood Schloss Fuschl’s heritage while modernising the resort experience, in keeping with Rosewood’s A Sense of Place guiding concept.
“Reimagining and restoring historic spaces has become an integral part of Rosewood’s brand DNA,” Cheng added, “and we’re honoured to be entrusted with continuing the legacy of this notable property.”
Rosewood has already restored landmark structures around the world, ranging from Paris to Madrid, New York to London and beyond.
