Sordo Madaleno and Alejandro Escudero create Sha Wellness Clinic and residences in Mexico

Sha Wellness Clinic has announced plans to open residences in 2022, as part of its new Sha Mexico resort.
The second development from Sha follows on from the original clinic in Spain – the new resort will have a clinic alongside the wellbeing-focused residences which will offer a "complete immersion in the Sha lifestyle".
The destination and residences will be located just north of the Riviera Maya on the Caribbean, surrounded by seven hectares of indigenous flora and with half a kilometre of white sandy beach.
Mexican architectural firm Sordo Madaleno and interior architect Alejandro Escudero were chosen by Sha to lead on design.
They've curated the development with wellbeing in mind – from the setting, architecture and design to the choice of natural and sustainable materials and advanced in-house technology.
White marble, natural fibres and fabrics, native woods, regional handicrafts and pottery are some of the interior design highlights guests can expect.
Sha VP, Alejandro Bataller, says: “Our aim for this game-changing move into property is to ensure Sha Mexico is the destination of choice for consumers seeking a long-term integration of health and lifestyle”.
There will be three categories of accommodation available – The Residence, The Beach House and The Penthouse – ranging from 240sq m to 800sq m and with two, three and four-bedroom options.
All will include private access for owners, an outdoor and indoor integrated kitchen, terrace with private garden and glass infinity pool, laundry room and wine cellar.
They’ll also incorporate air and water purification systems, as well as home automation based on circadian rhythms.
The building will rise to different heights, integrated with gardens, mangroves and natural cenotes, built to the highest standards of water and energy efficiency.
The lifestyle
“Sha’s move into the property market was driven by consumer demand to invest in long-term lifestyle changes,” Bataller explains.
Owners will have permanent access to treatments, including water therapies, therapeutic and cosmetic treatments and fitness options, including functional training, Pilates, yoga and meditation.
Residents will also get access to 300 medical experts, 100 consultation-types and the clinic’s cutting-edge facilities.
Medical and clinical treatments will be available in-residence, ranging from massage to Vinyasa Yoga classes on the terrace and a healthy cooking class.
Residence owners will also have access to in-room dining from Sha’s restaurants and in-residence catering by private chefs.
A team of full-time staff, including a Sha residences manager, concierge, maintenance, housekeeping and security staff will also be on-hand.
Although Sha remains an adults-only clinic, the range of treatments available within the Residences makes it possible for children to experience the Sha concept.
A Sha Residences Owners' Club will offer the opportunity to use Sha Residences in other select locations around the world, as an exchange between owners.
Sha’s flagship destination in Spain and new Mexican resort will be joined by Sha Emirates in 2023, in a seaside nature reserve between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
