Banyan Tree Krabi wellness resort on track to open in October 2020

Hotel group, Banyan Tree, has announced its beachfront wellness resort in Thailand – called Banyan Tree Krabi – is in the final phase of construction.

Surrounded by three national parks, the 72-key resort featuring a signature Banyan Tree spa has been three years in development and will be spread across 10 acres of coastline on Tubkaek Beach in Krabi.

The resort will feature a 517sq m Banyan Tree spa that draws inspiration from traditional Thai healing rituals and uses locally-sourced ingredients, with eight treatment rooms and two outdoor plunge pools.

Guests will be offered a range of Thai massages and beauty therapies as well as a Signature Rainforest Treatment, described by Banyan Tree as an ‘Amazonesque’ journey through vitality pools, a steamroom, sauna, ice fountain and rejuvenating water jets.

Every spa therapist at the resort will have undergone at least 350 hours of training based on the curriculum of the accredited Banyan Tree Spa Academies in Phuket, Thailand, and Bintan, Indonesia.

“Our owners have held onto this piece of land since 2006, waiting for the right time to open this resort,” said Banyan Tree cluster GM, Remko Kroesen. “Now, with so many areas in Phuket and Koh Phi Phi perceived as overcrowded and undoubtedly impacted from an environmental point of view, the time is right to make this stunning resort at Tubkaek Beach a reality.”

In addition to the spa, resort facilities will include a kids’ club, wedding deck, conference room, beach bar and two restaurants – one of which will only be accessible by cable car and offer birds-eye views of the surrounding natural scenery.

Design studio, Architrave, has led the creative vision for the project and created a resort inspired by Buddhism, the surrounding natural landscape and water. The studio has designed a centrepiece for the resort’s open-air lobby which comprises a large circular cascading waterfall that falls into a running stream below.

All accommodation will be beachfront-facing with private plunge and jet pools and guests will be able to choose from six different villa options.

Rooms will be decorated with modern and bright interiors, with the decor themed around contemporary chic with gentle tones of wood, stone and sand to instil a sense of calmness.

The designers will also implement ceiling-to-floor glass doors in the rooms, allowing maximum natural light, complemented by soothing veined white marble tiling.

Banyan Tree has announced that the resort is scheduled to open in October 2020.
