Legoland Water Park to open at Italy's Gardaland resort
Europe's first Legoland Water Park – and the first to open in a non-Legoland destination – will open at the Gardaland resort close to Lake Garda, Italy, on 28 May.
The park, which was announced last year, will cover 15,000sq m (160,000sq ft) and will be constructed, in part, from millions of Lego bricks.
Aimed at families with children, it will be home to several different themed lands, as well as a Lego shop and a restaurant.
Attractions will include the Lego River Adventure, a lazy river ride encircling the park that guests will sail down on customisable rafts, and a Miniland area with Lego replicas of iconic Italian landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Milan Cathedral, Saint Mark's Basilica and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
"Legoland Water Park Gardaland will have so many attractions that visitors will be thrilled, whether young or old," said Luca Marigo, sales and marketing director at Gardaland
"There will also be themed areas with lots of colourful water slides for youngsters and kids of all ages, as well as a creative area where children can discover the fun of building with Duplo and Lego bricks, swimming pools with sunbeds, deck chairs and gazebos where families can relax."
