Gad Line+ Studio create "floating cloud" reading room in the mountains

– Menɡ Fanhao
Gad Line+ Studio have created a reading space in China that resembles a cloud floating in its rocky mountain surroundings.
Jiunvfeng Study is situated on Mount Tai in Daiyue District, Tai’an City, and has a footprint of 287sq m (3,100sq ft).
The building is constructed on a stone plinth, curving with the shape of the mountain to create two bulbous ends joined by a more sinuous midriff.
Flowing floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the length of the building on one side overlooking the adjacent valley and balconies at either end also take advantage of the views, while a stone wall runs along the other side.
A puffed-up, arced white roof give the structure its cloud-like appearance and allows some additional natural light in through its thin membrane during the day.
Inside, the all-white theme is continued, while bookshelves and tiered seating are integrated into the structure, following its curves.
Menɡ Fanhao, chief architect and project principal, said: "On the rocky mountain, the contrasting white is left on its own, which was the original idea of the design. We built 'a floating cloud hovering in the mountains' to respond to the magnificent sea of clouds around Mount Tai."
