– Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels
Anantara has launched a resort in the in southwest Tunisian Sahara Desert with Moorish-inspired architecture and interiors that celebrate the region's design culture.
The 93-room Anantara Tozeur Resort features a variety of accommodation types, including Deluxe Sahara View Rooms, One and Two-Bedroom Villas and clusters of Pool Villas in landscaped courtyards.
Two private three-bedroom Royal Villas each provide 800sq m (8,600sq ft) of indoor living space with an open-plan lounge, sunken dining room, private majlis (sitting / meeting spaces) and outdoor area with an infinity pool and dining area.
The resort is also home to five dining outlets, a spa with six treatment rooms and a marble-lined hammam, floodlit tennis courts, a fitness club with yoga studio and a kids' club.
Interiors feature Arabian and North African designs with North African furnishings, materials and textures, while rooms are decorated with a palette of desert colours chosen to highlight Tunisia’s heritage.
The resort's spacious modern lobby, meanwhile, is a tribute to Moorish architecture, with keyhole archway spaces, a mosaic infinity water feature and a deconstructed chandelier.
