Tom Dixon style for new London boutique fitness studio

– Hannah Lanel
Hannah Lanel has opened The Fore – a new model of boutique gym offering two instructors per class – in London's King’s Cross, an increasingly residential area of the city.
Lanel was responsible for The Fore's distinctive interior design. She told CLAD, that the sleek decor – which features fittings by Tom Dixon – was inspired by her own home.
The Fore is part of a growing trend towards combining upscale interiors with fitness to create a new business model for customers who are willing to pay more to work out in a designer environment.
The business model at The Fore is groundbreaking in that each class has two instructors – one to lead the class, and the other to adjust form, to ensure exercises are done with anatomical and functional accuracy.
Offering a number of personal and group training programmes, the boutique occupies a total area of 5,500 sq ft (511 sq m) and features a Technogym-equipped gym with a focus on the Skillmill treadmill, studios, a juice bar, café, retail area, and workshop rooms.
"We break down barriers to exercise and get people moving properly,” Hannah Lanel, founder of The Fore, told HCM magazine.
"This intelligent approach to training means that people quickly come to know about training frequency, intensity, and functional fitness."
