First look at Foster and Partners ultra-luxe Cheval Blanc Hotel for LVMH
Details have emerged of Foster + Partners' designs for a London hotel project for French luxury conglomerate, LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE (LVMH), owner of brands such as Dom Pérignon, Krug, Moët & Chandon, Dior, Givenchy and Hublot.
LMVH is planning an 83-key Cheval Blanc hotel on Grafton Street in the heart of Mayfair.
The estimated £500m (US$636.3m, €570m) property, which is being developed by O&H Grafton, will feature an underground spa, a Louis Vuitton restaurant, a rooftop bar and terrace, six residential units, and retailing.
Additionally, the scheme will include outdoor "oases" and an "accessible streetscape" with public art installations.
LVMH currently operates four Cheval Blanc hotels in Courchevel, the Maldives, Saint-Barthelemy and Saint Tropez. Another is due to open towards the end of this year in the former La Samaritaine department store on the banks of the River Seine in Paris.
Through its Bvlgari brand, the company also boasts hospitality assets in five different countries.
LVMH recently acquired Belmond Hotels for a reported £2.5bn. The deal included 46 hotel, as well as river cruise experiences and the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and Royal Scotsman rail brands.
Belmond owns a number of iconic properties, including Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Hotel Splendido in Portofino and Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro
