Daniela Colli unveils many-splendoured designs for new Roman restaurant
Italian architect Daniela Colli has revealed her vibrant and highly stylised designs for Liòn – a new restaurant and cocktail bar in central Rome.
The recently constructed two-storey dining outlet, which brings together what the architect has called a "universe of materials" emphasises reds, blues, and yellows – an emotionally resonant colour scheme popularised by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Covering an area of 210 sq m, Liòn also features geometric motifs, turquoise-hued chequered floors, mosaic pillars, tinted glass, brass fixtures, and Art Deco-esque lettering that brings to mind the font used in promotional art for Baz Luhrmann's 2013 cinematic adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
According to the restaurant, which overlooks the Largo della Sapienza, Liòn’s menu will be based on "high-quality raw materials" and "biodynamic vegetables".
Luca Lodovici will serve as the executive chef.
Commenting on the project, Colli explained that the Liòn's combined visual attributes would create a "great formal coherence to offer customers an all-engaging experience between design and cuisine".
