DC Leisure has been confirmed as Sandwell Council's preferred bidder to design and build a new £11m leisure centre and swimming pool complex in West Bromwich.
The facility is currently scheduled to open in early 2014 and will be delivered by DC Leisure in conjunction with Pellikaan Construction. Work is due to begin next year, subject to planning approval.
A 25m swimming pool and learner pool will form part of the development, along with a four-court sports hall; a sauna and a steamroom; a 100-station fitness suite; and dance studios.
The proposed complex will be located on the corner of Moor Street and Barton Street, with a planning application due to be submitted later this year. Work will start in early 2013.
Sandwell Council's Steve Eling said: "DC Leisure is a major player in the leisure industry with all the skills, knowledge and expertise to give Sandwell a state of the art pool complex."
DC Leisure development director Peter Kirkham added: "The new leisure centre will bring a variety of sport and fitness facilities to all ages and will welcome those looking to adopt healthier, more active lifestyles this year and beyond."
