Legal deal paves way for Bromley revamp
Work on a £5m revamp of Pavilion Leisure Centre, London, is to get underway next month, after a legal agreement was signed by the local authority and the venue's operator.
Bromley Council and leisure trust Bromley Mytime have confirmed a deal that will allow a series of improvements to take place at the 20-year-old facility. Savernake Property Consultants will project manage the refurbishment with the support of Archer Architects. Higgins Construction has been appointed as the main contractor.
A new 500sq m (5,382sq ft), 100-station active lifestyle gym, tenpin bowling alley and new-look changing facilities are proposed, along with a family play centre. Bromley Council leader Stephen Carr said: "Major developments and improvements do not happen overnight but our plans are beginning to come to fruition.
"Modern leisure facilities should be at the heart of a town centre and our partnership with Bromley Mytime will make this happen and give more recreational options for families and individuals alike." Bromley Mytime chair Dennis Barkway added: "The transformed centre will offer more health and activity opportunities for all of Bromley's residents."
