Tridel's high-tech Innovation Suite explores the future of apartment living
– Stella Salvador
As part of its Ten York condo development in Toronto, developer Tridel has created an Innovation Suite that explores and showcases how technology can be used for the future of apartment living.
The suite came about through the desire to gain an understanding of how smart home technologies could meet or exceed the needs of residents.
The intention was to integrate technology and design seamlessly to provide connectivity, comfort and convenience.
The suite's interiors are described as "modern, minimal and refined", with the aim of promoting wellness while being attractive.
Large windows allow in abundant natural light and titanium oxide-coated wooden herringbone floors create a warm feeling while helping to filter and clean the air.
Residents can control elements like lighting, audiovisuals and blinds via voice control, a mobile app or touch, with four wireless charging pads around the space to provide power where required.
Different scenes can be triggered during the day, such as opening the blinds and turning the radio on in the morning, or changing the lighting type at night.
In the living area, an ultra short-throw HD laser projector for entertainment viewing is integrated into the millwork below the screen.
The kitchen features wall ovens monitored by smart technology to eliminate cooking mishaps and taps that can pour specific amounts of water.
In the bathroom, meanwhile, there's a smart toilet with built-in speakers for playing music, a heated seat and a foot warmer.
And the bedroom features a glass partition that can be switched from transparent to opaque depending on whether natural light or privacy is required, as well as a smart TV system and an ensuite bathroom with heated floors, a smart mirror and an AV-connected vibracoustic bath.
"The Innovation Suite at Ten York represents the incredible possibilities that occur when design and technology meet,” said Stella Salvador, principal interior designer at Tridel. "When we conceptualized this project, our vision was to create a luxury home experience unlike any other."
