CA$40m waterpark coming to Quebec in November
Work is progressing on a CA$40m (US$32.2m, €28.6m, £21.5m) waterpark set to open later this year in Blainville, Quebec, Canada.
Designed as an all-year round prospect – with both indoor and outdoor sections – Blainville’s Aquapolis will feature four themed sections divided up into Relaxation, Adventure, Fun Zone and Kid’s Corner.
In Relaxation, the park will include a beach, pools, spa pools, hydro-massage showers, boutiques and restaurants. In Adventure, the area will comprise waterfalls, rapids, slides and a lazy river with a jungle theme. Fun Zone will include a giant aqua treehouse, water-shooting geysers and an ‘aquatic hopscotch’, while Kid’s Corner will feature a nursery and paddling pool for young children.
The land for the site is 900,000sq ft (83,612sq m), with 100,000sq ft (9,290sq m) being used for the indoor section of the waterpark and a further 30,000sq ft (2,787sq m) being used on the outdoor waterpark. Remaining space is part of the park’s “vision for the future”, which will include green space, parking and possibly four to five hotels, according to a representative.
The Divco Group, Rosdev and Capital Liaison are backing the project as investors. The park will have a capacity of 2,500 people and is expecting to draw around 500,000 visitors annually. It is scheduled to open in November 2015.
