Super luxe fitness operator Equinox partners with Industrious to add co-working space to its health club portfolio

Equinox has revealed it will begin offering co-working space in its high-end health clubs.

The company has signed a partnership with premium flexible workspace provider Industrious, which marks the launch of an entirely new category for Equinox.

Industrious has an in-house design team, led by architect Eivind Karlsen as head of design.

Operating under the co-brand, Industrious at Equinox, the first location will be at the 72-storey skyscraper 35 Hudson Yards – the same location as Equinox’s 100th Fitness Club – the biggest in the world – an Equinox-owned spin class studio, SoulCycle, and the first-ever Equinox Hotel.

Hudson Yards is a development by Related Companies, owner of Equinox and Soul Cycle.

Jeff Weinhaus, Equinox president and chief development officer, says the concept is born out of strong demand for an all-encompassing experience that includes opportunities to live, work, play and work out in a "seamlessly designed property".

“Equinox is always looking for new ways to empower our community to perform at their best and maximize their lives, so we saw an opportunity to create workspaces that are as inspiring as our clubs," Weinhaus said.

"With so many of our members already spending significant time working in our clubs, our partnership with Industrious is truly a natural extension of our brand.

“The Equinox at Hudson Yards footprint is a true haven for high performance, offering visitors, guests and members opportunities for living, eating, regenerating, working out—and now working—in New York’s most highly-anticipated neighbourhood.”

Memberships for the flexible workspace at Hudson Yards will include access to the Industrious national network of services and amenities, as well as the option to integrate a fitness club membership to Equinox Hudson Yards.

Guests at Equinox Hotel can also elect to drop into the space for the duration of their stay.

“Equinox and Industrious share a simple philosophy: our customers deserve incredible experiences in beautiful places," said Jamie Hodari, CEO and co-founder of Industrious.

"That's why we're so excited to bring Industrious at Equinox to Hudson Yards, creating an inspiring workplace experience that draws from the DNA of both brands.”

Industrious at Equinox will occupy 44,000sq ft across the eighth and ninth floors.

The second Equinox hotel will be in Chicago's Fulton Market.
