Mandarin Oriental encourages guests to disconnect with 'Silent Night' event
Mandarin Oriental has announced that it will host its annual 'Silent Night' event on 12 December.
Hosted at Mandarin Oriental spas worldwide, the event will see spas across the group continue to offer their normal treatment menus, however, after 5pm talking and music will be longer permitted, so that guests can immerse themselves in silence, switch off and experience peace. The only communication will be a brief consultation between the guest and consultant before the client's spa journey begins.
Guests can also take part in the group's Digital Wellness initiative, which offers advice and activities designed to enable them to disconnect from technology. It also offers tips and guidelines to help establish healthy relationships with technology, clear mental clutter and establish a healthy 'digitally balanced lifestyle'.
Guests will be able to take part in Silent Yoga at the Bangkok and Guangzhou locations, meditation classes in Washington, London and Prague, while Singing Bowl therapies will be on offer in Shanghai and Boston, and couples sessions in Miami.
In addition, the group will also be offering Digital Wellness Escapes, an hour and 20-minute experience that claims to provide peaceful respite from the stresses of modern life through the power of human touch.
Jeremy McCarthy, group spa director for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, said: "A lot of value of a spa experience comes from simply disconnecting from technology and experiencing time for yourself in silence. During this stressful time of the year, we want to create a space where people can press the pause button and have some time to think, meditate, or just take a break from being inundated with noise."
