Lux Grand Gaube reopens with extensive wellness facilities

by Jane Kitchen | 16 Mar 2018

The Lux Grand Gaube in Mauritius has reopened after a US$32m renovation by London-based designer Kelly Hoppen and Mauritius designer Jean-Francois Adam, who have reimagined the resort in a “simple-yet-refined” style.

With over a hectare of land dedicated to wellness, the resort’s spa includes African-style huts and is designed to connect guests to nature. A new hydrotherapy pool, aromatic steamroom and sauna have been added, along with an Artis Technogym fitness centre, open-air calisthenic workout programmes, meditation and yoga space.

Hoppen and Adam have created airy interiors filled with natural light and sea views, and included touches like succulents in ceramic pots, hand-woven African baskets, wicker tables and geometric encaustic tiles.

London-based French artist Camille Walala has created a pop-style artwork at Beach Rouge, and imaginative Gouzou graffitis, painted by French street-artist Jace, are hidden around the resort.
