World's largest green building conference opens in LA
The world’s largest green building conference and expo has begun in Los Angeles.
Sustainability, clean energy, green technologies and health and wellness in the built environment are among the subjects in the spotlight at this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, which is taking place at the LA Convention Center until 7 October.
The event, which is presented by the US Green Building Council (USGCB), is expected to attract 20,000 attendees and 500 exhibitors from across the green building sector, including architects, building owners and operators, students, advocates and educators.
Danish architect Bjarke Ingels and USGBC COO Mahesh Ramanujam will appear together at the event’s closing plenary session to discuss the market transformation of the sustainability movement and the need for humans to change our worldview in order to create a world more responsive to our contemporary lives.
USGBC founding chair Rick Fedrizzi said: “Greenbuild 2016’s theme is Iconic Green. When we think of icons, we conjure up images of people, places and things that withstand the test of time, symbolising our beliefs, culture and community.
“Bjarke Ingels’ diverse worldview lens, combined with our dynamic and growing movement, is sure to create an iconic Greenbuild this year.”
