Como to open new Bhutan property
Singapore-based hospitality group Como Hotels and Resorts has announced it will unveil a new 11-bedroom sister lodge to the Uma Paro boutique hotel in Bhutan this September.
Uma Punakha is sited on a hillside towards the head of the Punakha Valley and will provide guests with the option of a two-centre stay in the remote Himalayan region.
Bali-based Cheong Yew Kwan has designed the lodge, which will boast a Como Shambhala Retreat with a double treatment room and a single treatment room with a hot stone bath.
Therapies at Uma Punakha will concentrate on massages and body treatments, which feature the Como Shambhala Bath and the Bhutanese Traditional Hot Stone Bath and Massage.
A spokesperson said the majority of guerts will also stay at Uma Paro, which offers facilities such as a steamroom and sauna; a swimming pool; and a fitness centre.
Como group marketing director Gabriela Henrichwark said: "The COMO Group was one of the first luxury hotel companies to open in the Kingdom of Bhutan, opening Uma Paro in 2004.
"Now, it is a privilege to be able to share the Punakha Valley with our guests and be a part of a community that has been so carefully preserved for future generations."
