Superheroes and spies to star at Marriott International's cinema-themed Dubai hotel
Hotel giant Marriott International has partnered with one of the largest shopping mall operators in the United Arab Emirates to develop a cinema-themed leisure development within the forthcoming Aloft Dubai City Centre Deira complex.
Superheroes, spies, Hollywood and Bollywood will all be celebrated in the Deira’s hotel, which will feature a floor of 25 standard rooms and four suites all dedicated to the world of film. There will be film projectors, movie screens and enhanced sound systems in the rooms, and a large collection of movies to view, allowing guests to “indulge in a world-class cinema experience.”
The development, planned by Marriott in collaboration with operator Majid Al Futtaim, is described by the pair as the first of its kind in the Middle East. In addition to the rooms, there will be a large outdoor event space centred around a cinema.
“Connected to the iconic City Centre Deira, our latest hotel property with its themed-cinema concept is designed to bring a vibrant new ambience and experience for diners and travellers alike, delivering on the increasing demand for experiential travel and leisure,” said Robert Welanetz, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim.
The Aloft project has been designed by architecture studio Brewer Smith Brewer (BSB). The second phase of project development is due to begin in June, with the complex scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2018.
In total, the hotel will feature 304 rooms, including 29 suites, a fine dining restaurant, a bar, an outdoor events terrace, a swimming pool, a spa and a gym.
In a statement, the architects said: “Contemporary and urban by design, this hotel boasts a vibrancy and a socially interactive environment fitting for the unique demands of the modern hotel end user. Youthful, playful and fun, it fuses modern décor and state-of-the-art technology with a boutique, stylish ambience.”
