Switch The Gym's tech-based studios relay performance data to screens
– Terry Labee
Dutch boutique fitness brand Switch The Gym has launched a second technology-based studio aimed at optimising workouts for each individual, designed by DR+ Architecten, No Bears and First Impression.
Founded by Terry Labee, Switch The Gym provides a timetable of HIIT group workouts at an affordable price point.
"It offers the fun and energy of group training with the attention and expertise of personal training, but without the expense," Labee explained.
Located in Eindhoven, Netherlands, the new studio has data and technology sit at the heart of its design concept, which includes screens, LED lighting and surround sound.
Individuals wear sensor belts that send real-time data an accompanying app while they are training, which in turn utilises heart rate tracking technology to motivate participants during their sessions based on their desired results.
The data is also relayed to screens around the studio, which show the extent to which individuals are performing to their potential.
A dark aesthetic within the gym is offset by the stark red, orange and green colours of the screens, reinforcing the significance of the data being shown.
The Eindhoven location follows Switch The Gym's first site in Veldhoven, which was opened three months ago, and a third studio is due to open in Tilburg during Q1 2020.
