Luxury Kempinski spa opens on the horn of Africa
Located in Djibouti on the horn of Africa at the crossroads between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, the 740sq m (7,965sq ft) Kempinski The Spa at Djibouti Palace Kempinski, is now open.
Managed by spa brand Resense and designed South African studio K/M2K, facilities include six treatment rooms (including one double suite), a fitness centre, two infinity pools, gym, tennis court, relaxation room, and steam and sauna facilities in male and female changing areas.
According to the design studio, "Many of the interiors are evocative of Djibouti’s past as a gateway to Africa for trades from Arabia and the Far East." Contemporary Arabic and African contemporary decor is also referenced, with a key feature being the traditional marble hammam.
Inspired by the European cycle of the seasons and drawing on the elemental wisdom of nature, treatments are customised according to the guest’s desired outcome.
